Baseball Records

Major League baseball records are listed and recorded just as in any other game, besides that in Major league baseball anything and everything the players and the team do is recorded. More things are recorded in baseball than in any other sport. MLB records come in may forms an shapes, such as Home Run records, most hits records, batting average record and even attendance records for spectators. They are recorded as MLB team records, as MLB single season records and even all time major league baseball records.

A major league baseball record and MLB record holders are also recorded in the major league record book located with the Major league baseball organization and in the baseball hall of fame. The single season MLB home run record is hold by Barry Bonds with 73 home runs in 2001. The single season hitting record was recorded in 2004, when Ichiro Suzuki had 262 hits. There are MLB playing records as well as MLB pitching records. The single season strike out record happened in 1973 by Nolan Ryan with 383 strikeouts. Going even further than just for a single season, there are the all time MLB records. The all time record holder in most hits for example is Pete Rose with as much as 4256 hits, closely followed by TY Cobb with 4191 hits in his career. Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds and Babe Ruth are the all time home run leaders with 755, 751 and 714 home runs in their career time.

Also recorded is the spectator attendance, but the size of baseball stadiums differs from team to team and therefore a MLB attendance record can only be established for each stadium itself.

The highest MLB home team attendance record in one season was at the Mile High Stadium in 1993 with 4,483,350 spectators watching the home team, the Colorado Rockies. The biggest crowd for a World Series game (baseball playoffs) was recorded on October 6th 1959 with 92,706 spectators attending.

In 2005 major league records by month were also used to give out monthly player awards such as most valuable player of the month, pitcher and rookie of the month.

MLB Records are also recorded in to two different divisions, American League Records and National League Records.
