Currently on the MLB team list are 30 major league baseball teams. MLB teams play 162 games a season. They are the highest-level professional baseball teams in North America. MLB teams salaries can range from as low as 300,000 up to 173 Million Dollars (Barry Bonds highest paid with $172,711,352 in history so far). The average salary in 2006 for a major league team player was $2,699,292. Therefore the payroll for Major league baseball teams in 2007 climbed up to more than 189 Million Dollars. But as a matter of fact MLB team payrolls are not directly connected to their performance and therefore the highest spending team is not necessary the best team in the league. MLB team clothing has regulations on sleeve lengths, all players have to wear the same uniform, same stocking length and same baseball hats.
Major league baseball team names have to follow a certain pattern and MLB names have been chosen with three factors in mind, geographic designator (such as the teams city/state/region), a nickname (mascot or specialties to the region) and team colors. Just as the names are regulated by the MLB organization MLB team apparel as well as MLB logos have strict rules too.
So what are all the MLB teams? The teams are divided in two major leagues, the National League and the American League and within these two leagues there are three divisions: NL East, Central and West as well as AL East, Central and West. To the NL East belong the Atlanta Braves, Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals. To the NL Central belong the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers,Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Lous Cardinals. To the NL West belong the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Los angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants. To the AL East belong the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Toronto Blue Jays. To the AL Central belong the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. To the AL West belong the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers.
Major league baseball team records are kept just like the records of individual players. MLB team records are important for the comparison of performance in the league.
Since Major League baseball is such a big market in the United States, fan accessories are available everywhere. They range from t-shirt and baseball hats over computer games and even MLB team logo desktop wallpaper.
